Call for Program Proposals


17th Annual Conference: Friday, October 25, 2019

“Honoring Ourselves: Personifying Truth”

SIMMONS UNIVERSITY ~ BOSTON, MA

 

African American Women in Higher Education – New England is accepting proposals for program presentations to be facilitated at its Annual Conference related to the theme, ‘Honoring Ourselves: Personifying Truth”  Presenting an educational session enables you to share your knowledge by discussing topics unique to Black women in higher education. If you are interested in presenting, please complete the online application form (click link below) and submit any questions via email to:

Extended Deadline: Friday, October 4, 2019

 


Proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Content, creative design of presentation and thoughtfulness of topic
  • Significance, timeliness, and relevance to the theme
  • Level of interaction with participants

Relevant topics may include, but are not limited to:

  

  •    How do you live your best life: Be it at peace- not pieces
  •   Navigating political waters at your institution
  •   Standing in our Own Power: Personifying your Truth
  •   Toolkit - Charting the course for success and promotion 
  •   The coloring of the Ivory Tower?
  •   Strategic practices - work smarter not harder
  •   Making powerful connections
  •   Climate and Culture: Working in a radicalized context
  •   How to make a political difference - honoring your political voice

 

Plenary sessions are 75 minutes in length, including a question and answer portion.  Attendees represent a variety of professional areas in the academy; student affairs professionals from two- and four-year institutions, representing public, private, and proprietary institutions.

 

The Conference Planning Committee encourages you to distribute this Call for Programs to your colleagues and associates for their consideration.
